Robin Protection System

For the past 10 days or so, we've had a robin who is absolutely fascinated by his reflection in our front door. He perches on the railing opposite the glass door, notices his reflection, and then attacks. Boink, boink, boink, boink. This starts about 6:30am or so and happens intermittently throughout the day. Evidently he gets very excited/agitated at his reflection, given the amount of bird poop that now adorns our front step (welcome to the Hudson's - watch your step...).Today I am working from home so I have had an opportunity to realize how often this actually goes on. This poor robin is going to wear himself out or break his neck before this is all over. So of course I turn to the web. Evidently we are not the only unsuspecting folks who's house is under attack. Here's a website devoted entirely to what they call "the window bonk."

So after eductating myself about this poor animal and how much he must hate his (or her...I am equal opportunity here) reflection - I decided I need to help him out...here is our brand new Robin Protection System:

Isn't it beautiful? I cannot imagine what the neighbors are going to think. Maybe I should get Connor to paint on the paper or something, at least then it would look like we are showing off our child's artwork.

P.S. As I am typing this - NO JOKE - the robin is once again slamming himself into the door. Evidently my protection system is not wide/long enough...back to the drawing board.
